It was built in the 1990s on reclaimed ground beside the Larvotto shore, designed by Yasuo Beppu, and it is a properly made garden rather than a decorative gesture: a pond with koi, a tea house, raked gravel, stone lanterns and a waterfall, all at a scale that works.
The Mediterranean is directly on the other side of the wall, which is an odd and rather good combination.
It is free, it is quiet, and it is five minutes from the busiest part of Monte-Carlo.
The single most underrated free thing in the country. Most visitors never cross the road to it.
